Booster Day Carnival and Parade

Today was the first Saturday, in what felt like forever, that Wayne had the entire day off. He surprised me with the news this morning over the blueberry pancake breakfast he prepared for us. By the way...he makes the BEST pancakes!

We decided to take the kids to the Booster Day parade and carnival. Owen loved the parade, and was so excited about the candy. Myself on the other hand wasn't to crazy about getting pelted in the head with hand fulls of Tootsie Rolls. Ashton enjoyed the candy too, of course, but she also really liked waving at the royalty. She liked their "pretty crowns". And Grace would get so excited over the flag twirlers and marching bands. She must get that from Wayne.

After the parade we ventured off to the carnival. Grace was wiped out from all the excitement of the parade, and she slept though the carnival. Owen and Ashton tested their skills at the "Luck Duck" game and won a small prize. Then it was time for some rides. Owen wanted to go on the "Strawberry Ride". There was no way I was going on that twisting ride of death. I had visions of myself leaning out the side of the strawberry as my face turned three different shades of green. I do not do spinning rides! Wayne wasn't too pumped to go on the ride either, but he knew Owen really wanted to go, so he gave in. SUCKER! (ha ha ha ha ha)

That was the last ride for Wayne. The line was long and moved at a turtle's pace. So the next ride we sent Owen and Ashton on alone. They must have enjoyed it because they sat beside each other without fighting!

It was a fun day at the carnival. Owen and Wayne went back later that night for the fireworks. I stayed home with the girls. They were extremely crabby from missing their naps.

I am so glad Wayne had the day off. I was starting to miss our little "Family Fun Days."
